New York University’s Prague Institute for Democracy, Economy, and Culture (PIDEC) invites you to a guest lecture by Johann P. Árnason “Capitalism as a civilizational problem”. It will take place on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, 6 p.m. at NYT Prague (Male namesti 11, Richtrův Dum, 1st floor).

Lecture will be held in English and will focus on capitalism as part of a broader process encompassing all dimensions of human development (the view pioneered by Marx and Weber). Distinction between varieties of capitalism seems increasingly relevant, it is therefore important to analyze their different civilizational sources. That open the question of civilizational resources to be drawn on.

Johann Árnason is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at La Trobe University in Melbourne & Visiting Professor at the Charles University in Prague. He is a member of the Advisory Board of CESTA.
